Elopement in Forillon National Park, Gaspésie | An Intimate Wedding Between Sea and Cliffs
An elopement on the Côte-de-Gaspé to slow down and reconnect
When Andrea and François shared a bit about their reality, everything quickly fell into place. They both work in the entertainment industry, travel often, and live a life that’s constantly in motion. For their wedding, they wanted the opposite. Nothing big or overwhelming. Just a quiet, grounded moment where they could truly breathe.
They told us about the wind, the salty air. That feeling of being so small in a vast landscape. And also about their love for fly fishing. Gaspésie felt like the obvious choice. To spend a few days away, fish for salmon… and get married along the way. It was simple, but deeply aligned with who they are.
From there, everything came together naturally. We started imagining their day with them, finding locations that reflected what they wanted to experience. Nothing rigid. Just a direction, and a lot of listening. Very quickly, the idea of an Elopement in Forillon National Park felt like the perfect fit.
A slow and gentle start to the day, between the cabin & the beach
We met up with them in the afternoon at the cabin they had rented near Gaspé. There was already something very calm in the atmosphere. No stress, no tight timeline. Just time settling in, slowly.
We began documenting their getting ready as those moments naturally unfolded. Simple gestures, small details, putting together the picnic they had planned for later. Nothing staged. Just real life, exactly as it was happening.
We had suggested doing their first look on a beach. An open space, with the sea stretching out in front of them. When François turned around to see Andrea, something shifted. The emotions rose all at once. Tears, laughter, and that sense of relief too. Finally seeing each other in that moment, for real.
They held each other for a long time. The wind moved through, carrying the salty air with it, and for a while, nothing else around them really mattered. It’s the kind of moment you can’t create. You can only witness it.
We took our time. A few photos, without rushing anything. Then we got back on the road toward Forillon National Park.
Kisses beneath a waterfall & a picnic by the lighthouse
They had mentioned they’d love a spot with a waterfall. Something discreet, enveloping, intimate. We had scouted one, accessible after a short walk. The light was falling just right, the place felt calm, almost suspended in time.
After the waterfall, we headed toward the Cap-des-Rosiers lighthouse, where everything opens up. Where your gaze can stretch far, and the wind takes up all the space.
They were getting hungry, which worked out perfectly. We settled on the shore for their picnic. Nothing elaborate. Just a moment to slow down, eat, laugh a little, and take it all in. The kind of moment that’s often forgotten in weddings, but makes all the difference.
We continued gently with a few photos around the lighthouse. The light was shifting, the wind too. And without really saying it out loud, we could all feel that the ceremony was getting close.
An intimate ceremony at the foot of the cliffs
We then made our way toward the cliffs. As we walked down the steps to the beach, the sun was starting to dip lower. The light was becoming softer, warmer.
Then Josée began the ceremony. There was nothing excessive. Just the right words, in the right place. A presence. A deep sense of listening. Something profoundly simple, yet touching exactly where it needed to.
After that, Andrea and François exchanged their vows. Not in front of a crowd. Not within a set structure. Just there, at the foot of the Cap Bon-Ami cliffs, with the sound of the waves and the evening light. It felt gentle. It felt real. And it was entirely true to them.
And that’s often what stands out most in days like this. Not a perfect timeline. Not a performance. Just moments unfolding naturally, in a landscape that holds all the space.
A moment we definitely didn’t plan… and won’t forget anytime soon LOL
François had never done a “real” proposal, the kind you see in movies, down on one knee and all. And right in the middle of exchanging rings, without overthinking it, he suddenly dropped to one knee in front of Andrea.
It was completely spontaneous and hilarious. We all burst out laughing, there was no other way. And in the end, it turned into one of the favorite moments of the entire ceremony.
