Elopement in Gaspésie National Park: An Intimate Wedding in Nature’s Embrace

Imagine starting your wedding day on a mountaintop at sunrise, spending the day exploring breathtaking trails, and unwinding in a cozy inn nestled within majestic mountains. This dream became a reality for Émilie & Pascal during their unforgettable elopement in Gaspésie National Park, a location where adventure meets serenity.

Why Choose an Elopement in Gaspésie National Park?

For couples who crave an intimate wedding without the traditional hustle and bustle, an elopement in Gaspésie National Park offers the perfect balance of tranquility and adventure. Émilie & Pascal were looking for a wedding day that allowed them to focus on each other, away from the pressures of a larger event. They felt that a traditional wedding meant “having to please too many people, not seeing time go by and not spending enough time as a couple”.

Having hiked many trails together, including an unforgettable proposal in Monts Groulx Uapishka, they knew they wanted to spend their wedding day immersed in the beauty of nature. They wanted to have an experience that felt as natural as their love.

“We wanted our love to unfold organically, in a space where we could simply be ourselves, doing what we love most,” they shared.

After talking with them and listening to their concerns, Patrick & I suggested this destination. We felt that an elopement in the incredible landscape of Gaspésie National Park was the perfect balance between relaxation and adventure. The trail we suggested gave them an unobstructed view of the surrounding peaks with a minimum of effort. And because of the park’s proximity to the St. Lawrence River, it also gave us the opportunity to take photos in very different environments. It was everything they dreamed of—and more.

A Day Full of Adventures

A Seaside Adventure Session

The day before the wedding, we met Émilie & Pascal in Ste-Anne-des-Monts to explore one of our favorite spots along the coast. Because we’d spent months planning their elopement in Gaspésie National Park, by the time we met in person, it felt like we were already friends. We spent hours together, laughing and bonding, which made the upcoming adventure even more special.

A Sunrise Ceremony on Mont Ernest-Laforce

On the morning of the wedding, we set off before dawn to begin the gentle hike up Mont Ernest-Laforce. At the summit, Émilie & Pascal donned their wedding attire and took a quiet moment to watch a mother moose and her calf. As the sun rose, casting a warm glow over the mountains, Pascal turned to Émilie and took in the sight of her, bathed in sunlight. They shared a quiet embrace, fully immersed in the moment.

I then officiated their ceremony with the surrounding mountains as their witnesses. What an emotional moment! It’s crazy to experience moments of such intensity. It brings us back to what this commitment is all about. Afterward, they celebrated by dancing to their favorite song and popping open a bottle of champagne, soaking in the beauty of their surroundings.

Near the summit, placed on an erratic boulder, an engraved inscription perfectly expresses what we were all feeling in that moment:

Take it all in!
Breathe deeply.
Contemplate the shapes, the colors.
Feel the wind.
Listen.
Smell all the aromas.
Taste with all your senses.

Private vows exchange at Lac aux Américains

If there’s one location in the park that’s instantly recognizable, it’s the easily accessible viewpoint from the Lac aux Américains. At sunset, it’s epic, but come blue hour, it’s absolutely magical! Émilie & Pascal took advantage of these gentle moments to exchange personal vows standing at the end of the dock, completely in tune with one another, but also with the lake and mountains around them.

It’s further proof that you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do on your wedding day, and that it can be whatever you want it to be! As well as the adventure aspect of an elopement, there’s also a lot of flexibility and freedom – Emilie and Pascal really took advantage of this!
