An Intimate Wedding at Home in the Heart of the Eastern Townships
For Jacinthe and Éric, getting married in their forest in Sutton, in the Eastern Townships, held a lot of meaning. And we totally understand why: they have a big home, and their beautiful, peaceful forest made it possible to capture this moment in a truly intimate way. The spot they chose to say their “I dos” is their own little slice of nature, their sanctuary, a place full of meaning. We were so excited to help them plan their intimate forest wedding in the Eastern Townships, while capturing every single moment. It was a gentle, simple day, full of laughter and hugs.
Getting Ready Moments, a First Look, and Three Unexpected Witnesses
By the time we arrived, preparations were already in full swing. The girls were getting their hair and makeup done, while Éric was getting ready in the basement. We were so happy to see Constance again, Jacinthe’s sister, whose wedding we had photographed a few years ago (she hadn’t changed a bit, LOL!). After the hugs, there was no time to waste; there was so much going on to capture, plus the cheerful pups adding to the fun! We couldn’t have asked for more, it was full-on excitement, and we loved every minute of it!
After the preparations, Patrick headed off with Éric to the first look location, a property lent to them by some friends, complete with a pond and a barn typical of the Eastern Townships. It was bucolic, calm, and peaceful. A few minutes later, Josée and Jacinthe arrived, and the emotion instantly heightened—it was electric.
Jacinthe stepped forward, and just as Éric turned around, three Nubian goats with long ears—the only spectators of the first look, but far from the quietest—started bleating at the top of their lungs. They repeated the trick every time the couple kissed. It was hilarious 😂 After all those emotions, we took couple photos in several spots around the property before heading back home for the ceremony.
An Emotional Ceremony, a Tribute, and a Soothing Forest Moment
The ceremony, officiated by Josée, took place in the heart of their forest, calm and lush, with shafts of light filtering through the trees. Éric had built the benches himself, adding a deeply personal touch. To honor his late mother, he had hung a phone on a tree behind them (picking up the receiver was a symbolic way to feel her presence during the ceremony, a delicate thread connecting here and elsewhere). Needless to say, it was a touching and emotional moment for everyone.

A Heartfelt Handfasting Ceremony with Their Closest Loved Ones
After exchanging their vows and rings, Jacinthe and Éric wanted to include their loved ones in a handfasting ritual. Each guest tied a piece of fabric onto the central ribbon held by Éric and Jacinthe while offering a personal wish. All the ribbons came from Éric’s mother’s personal collection, a remarkable seamstress, which made the moment even more symbolic and full of emotion.
Sunshine, Drinks, and Intimate Forest Shots with the Dogs
After all those emotions, everyone moved out to the terrace for an aperitif. It was relaxed and friendly, with no fuss, as the couple had hired a caterer for the drinks and the meal afterward. We then headed back into the forest to take more photos, this time with the pups. We had such a laugh because the dogs brought so much energy and movement to the scene!
