Photo session in the mountains of Charlevoix

4:00 AM. Patrick et moi leave a sleepy and snowy Quebec City and head for the Grands-Jardins National Park. It’s because we arranged to meet there Marianne & Vincent and photograph their adventure photo session at the top of a mountain in Charlevoix. The day before, we consulted the weather forecast and it seems that we will be entitled to a mini clearing at the time of the sunrise. Fingers crossed.

Headlamp lit, we begin the short ascent of the hiking trail La Chouenne. Maurice, their magnificent Golden Retriever dog accompanies us in the adventure.

At the top, we are once agin blown away! It’s not the first time that we reach this summit, but we are always amazed by this crazy 360 degrees view on the valley below, the surrounding mountains and even the St. Lawrence River in the distance. It’s such a beautiful location! Super inspiring!

Let’s talk about this clearing! Under a completely overcast sky, a very thin strip of clear sky. But it’s just enough for the sun to give its best show. It’s amazing how quickly the colors change in winter. In less than an hour, we had a lot of different lights and colors, all as beautiful as each other.
