Sangeeta & Frank’s Massif de Charlevoix Intimate Wedding: A Perfect Fall Celebration
When Sangeeta & Frank reached out to us, they had a very specific vision for their intimate wedding – they knew exactly what kind of fall landscape they wanted to be surrounded by to celebrate their big day. The catch? They needed help finding it. And let’s be honest, that’s pretty much the case for every couple we work with!
Originally from Ontario, Sangeeta & Frank wanted to take advantage of their upcoming stay in Charlevoix to tie the knot, as they had fond memories of a previous trip to the region. But being far from the area and without the ability to scout locations in person, they needed our expertise. Fortunately, that’s what we do best. It’s all part of our DNA here at Love is Nord, born from our passion for landscape photography.
So, we got to work and asked them to share the details of their vision for their wedding day:
- An unobstructed view of the Charlevoix mountains
- An elevated view of the St. Lawrence River
- Easy access without the need for a hike
- A vibrant, colorful fall landscape
They also shared that they wanted a simple ceremony with an officiant and a few close friends, followed by a private moment to exchange personal vows and a relaxed photoshoot. Having an intimate wedding provides so much flexibility in how you can shape your day – a luxury not always available with larger, traditional weddings.
To find the perfect location for their elopement, we went all in. Researching online, browsing social media, checking Google Earth, and, of course, taking several trips out to explore Charlevoix in person. After all the groundwork, we rediscovered one of our favorite spots in the region: Le Massif de Charlevoix.
Popular in winter for its ski slopes that seem to descend right into the sea, Le Massif de Charlevoix is a hidden gem when it comes to hiking trails. Although the mountain is only accessible to hikers during specific times, it’s well worth the effort. The spot where Sangeeta & Frank’s ceremony took place was accessible after an easy 15-minute walk – perfect for those seeking a stunning location without too much exertion. The best part? Le Massif de Charlevoix offers couples access to its private land under certain conditions. Contact Love is Nord for more details on how to make this work for your own Massif de Charlevoix intimate wedding.
Now, let’s take a quick detour and talk about one thing Patrick and I always consider when scouting wedding locations: going to see the spot in person. Maybe you’ve found a gorgeous place online, maybe it’s trending on Instagram, but trust us – things can look quite different when you’re standing there.
We ask ourselves:
- Is the location suitable for a ceremony? (For example, a 45% slope isn’t ideal for standing still!)
- Does it provide enough space for the couple, officiant, and guests?
- Will the photographers have enough room to move around and capture the best shots without intruding on the moment?
- Are there different perspectives or just one view that could make your photos look repetitive?
- Is there anything that blocks part of the landscape that wasn’t obvious in the photos you saw?
- How much privacy will you have, or are there likely to be other visitors nearby?
So, in the case of Le Massif de Charlevoix, we were able to confirm that the location was not only perfect but also accessible under the right conditions. And that’s what makes all the difference when planning your dream Massif de Charlevoix intimate wedding.
