Quebec Elopement | Intimate wedding in Mingan Archipelago
What we love most about our work as photographers is showing our couples epic locations and capturing their amazement discovering them through our lenses. When Laurence and Vincent contacted us telling us that they wanted to have their intimate wedding or elopement in the Mingan Archipelago on Quebec’s Côte-Nord region after seeing the photos we had taken there, we knew we were going to get along well.
We know a lot about the Mingan Islands, as we have camped there several times and we have done many photoshoots. It is one of the most spectacular places in Quebec and we were excited to be able to show it to Laurence & Vincent. We also had lots of advice to give them – how to get there, what to pack, how to prepare for rustic camping, how to deal with the unexpected, the changing weather and the tide, etc. We presented them the pros and cons of several islands (Île Nue, Île Quarry, Grande-Île, etc.): which is the most spectacular, which is the most accessible, which offers the most privacy, etc.
Their choice for their elopement type intimate wedding ended up being Île Nue of the Mingan Archipelago mainly because this island is the one that offers the most privacy once the day cruisers leave. Indeed, there are only two campsites on Île Nue beach, which allowed us to sort of privatize the island between late afternoon and the next morning. Laurence and Vincent loved being alone to exchange their intimate vows.
It was a real adventure they had on their wedding day.
Taking a boat to the island in an intense fog, hiking to the campsite located a little over a kilometer from the dock, setting up camp, doing hair & make up, getting dressed outdoors and finally saying yes to each other at the foot of La Montagnaise, the emblematic monolith of Île Nue. When they returned to the camp, they read messages that their family and friends had written to them for the occasion. We ended the day by preparing a meal on the campfire while watching the sunset.
They really had a wedding day in their image, according to their desires and at the pace they chose and these photos are a tangible memory of that.
